We will be going old school and specializing in tintype & ambrotype portraits. For those people not familiar with these processes, the tintype is technically a negative of an image exposed directly onto an enamel coated plate of metal (traditionally very thin "Japanned" steel; in modern use, usually enamel coated aluminum). The Ambrotype is an image exposed directly onto transparent glass with a black backing. Each image is unique, no two plates are the same and can only be duplicated by scanning or taking a photo of the tintype itself. We use antique equipment, handmade chemical formulas and the same photographic process used during the mid-1800s. We currently will be working with 4"x5" plates but will be adding 5"x7" and 8"x10" in the very near future.
